Friday Night Live presents: Ted Garber

Fri, Nov 25, 2011 - Fri, Mar 23, 2012

One of the best musicians on the East Coast is coming to “Friday Night Live” at the Tally Ho Theatre in Leesburg, VA on Friday. November 25, 2011 at 9:00pm.

This exciting night of live music also features wine and sangria from Fabbioli Cellars.

TED GARBER is a genre-bending multi-instrumentalist whose BluesAmericanaRock style combines classic showmanship with a captivating singer-songwriter sensibility. His smoky, bluesy vocals, howling harmonica riffs, and screaming guitar licks are enticing audiences worldwide. A DC native, Garber’s music is a combination of three major inspirations—his late folk musician father, the New Orleans rhythm and blues scene, and his love of travel, culture and language.

Garber began playing professionally when he was 19 years old, during his days as a student at Tulane University in New Orleans. He got his start busking on street corners before breaking in to the New Orleans live scene. Following in the footsteps of his late father Holly Garber, a popular DC-area musician, he has gone on to perform in more than a dozen states and thirty countries, packing venues as diverse as DC’s legendary 9:30 Club, the Viper Room in Los Angeles and Nashville’s Bluebird Cafe.

In 2006 he was named DC’s Top Entertainer by WUSA-Channel 9 and won On Tap Magazine’s Battle of the Bands ʻTaste of Arlingtonʼ Competition. In 2010 he was selected as one of Strathmore’s Performing Artists in Residence. He was awarded the 2010 Washington Area Music Association (WAMA) “Pop Recording of the Year” Award for his critically acclaimed album, American Rail. “It’s hard to blend blues, jazz, and roots rock together to create anything that really and truly works, but somehow Ted Garber has mixed these diverse sounds together to form his latest album, a 10-track masterpiece.” raved On Tap Magazine.

Garber sings of hope, faith, and accountability, and encompasses a diversity of sounds from electrifying, pulsating rock n’ roll, to lush, cinematic ballads, New Orleans rhythm and blues, Latin-jazz, and alt-country. His latest album, Live at Strathmore, has been called “bright and colorful, full of life, rich in humor, and deep with wisdom…Live at Strathmore is a slice of true Americana that absolutely can’t be missed!” —The Ripple Effect.

In addition to the live music, wine and sangria will be available for purchase courtesy of local vineyard Fabbioli Cellars.
